ALICE Training

ALICE is an active shooter response program that consists of Awareness and Communication strategies and Response Options strategies. The Awareness and Communication strategies
consist of situational awareness and alerting others.

For over 20 years, ALICE Active Shooter Response Training has led the way in empowering schools, workplaces, and communities with proactive response strategies to improve safety and save lives.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This in-person training provides participants with a foundational understanding of Violent Critical Incidents and effective response options in high-risk and emergency situations. Emphasis is placed on the importance of situational awareness and timely decision-making to improve personal safety and the safety of others during violent incidents or other emergencies.

Participants will learn to recognize early indicators of danger, understand how information and communication impact outcomes, and apply response strategies using an options-based approach. The course integrates classroom instruction with instructor-led demonstrations and practical, scenario-based learning.


Course Duration

Approximately 4 hours, divided into two instructional segments.


Course Curriculum

Part I – ALICE Foundations
  • Introduction to ALICE Principles

  • Awareness and Communication Strategies

  • Options-Based Response Strategies

  • Instructor-Led Training Demonstrations

  • Instructor-Led Safe Scenario Exercises

Part II – Security Awareness
  • Introduction to Security Awareness

  • Code Adam: Lost and Missing Child Procedures


Participant Requirements

This course includes physical movement and active participation. Participants are required to bring and wear the following:

  • Water bottle

  • Pen and paper for note-taking

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Clothing suitable for active training environments and modest in appearance


Cost

There is no cost to attend this training.


Attendance & Administrative Requirements

  • All participants must arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for check-in.

  • Participants must complete the official check-out process to receive credit and recognition for course completion.

  • Late arrivals will not be admitted into the training session under any circumstances.
